Waterproof blanket

Bentonite Composite Waterproofing Blanket (GCL) is a new type of geosynthetic material. It is made by mixing bentonite particles with corresponding additives as raw materials, and using a needle-punching process and equipment to fix the bentonite particles between geotextile and plastic woven fabric, resulting in a blanket-like waterproofing membrane.

Bentonite waterproofing blankets can be classified by production process into: needle-punched sodium bentonite waterproofing blankets, needle-punched laminated sodium bentonite waterproofing blankets, and adhesive-bonded sodium bentonite waterproofing blankets.

The needle-punched sodium bentonite waterproofing blanket involves laminating a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) geomembrane onto the outer surface of the non-woven geotextile of the needle-punched sodium bentonite waterproofing blanket.

The adhesive-bonded sodium bentonite waterproofing blanket is produced by using adhesive to bond bentonite particles to a high-density polyethylene board, followed by compression to form the sodium bentonite waterproofing blanket.

Functions:

1. It possesses waterproofing and anti-seepage properties, with an anti-seepage hydrostatic pressure resistance of up to 1.0 MPa or more, permeability of 5×10⁻¹¹ m/s, and a bentonite mass per unit area of 5 kg/m². Bentonite is a natural inorganic material that does not undergo aging reactions, ensuring good durability; moreover, it does not adversely affect the environment.

2. It exhibits the characteristics of geotextile materials, such as separation, reinforcement, protection, and filtration. Construction is simple and not limited by ambient temperature; it can be applied even at temperatures below 0°C. During installation, the GCL waterproofing blanket is laid flat on the ground. For vertical or sloped surfaces, it is secured with nails and washers and overlapped as required.

3. It is easy to repair; even after the waterproofing (seepage prevention) construction is completed, if the waterproof layer is accidentally damaged, simple repairs to the damaged area can restore its waterproofing performance.

4. It offers a relatively high performance-to-price ratio and has a wide range of applications.

5. The product can have a width of up to 6 meters, matching the specifications of international geotextiles (membranes), thereby improving construction efficiency.
